CHANDIGARH: Though much-touted Chandigarh technology park has changed the city''s profile, when it comes to business the city is yet to pull up its socks.
Finding little infrastructure to support big shows in city, major IT player DLF has shifted its soft launch from Chandigarh to Delhi. It seems despite the presence of IT majors Dell, Quark and Infosys here, Delhi remains the market hot spot.
After having earlier planned a soft launch here to promote their park, the developers now have decided to shift its location to Delhi.
Now only a curtain-raiser for select local clients will be organised in the city on Friday.
Since city lacks proper connectivity besides good star hotels, the DLF plans to invite the head honchos of top IT, BPO and ITES companies have not taken off. However, speaking to TNN, Yogesh Verma, DLF director, said, "We had planned to invite the CEO of top companies to Chandigarh but their busy schedules could not match with our dates."
Sanjay Tyagi, Director STPI (Mohali), said that they had planned for the launch at the Taj Chandigarh, which was yet to take off.
The DLF has now planned a meet in a seminar format where the heads of leading IT, ITES and BPO firms from north India will get together in Delhi instead of Chandigarh in July. A get-together limited to the local companies has been organised on Friday.
The DLF''s senior corporate manager said, "As most of our clients are based in Delhi, we have decided to shift the meet now to the Taj Palace on July 16. The event would be a joint programme by DLF and UT Chandigarh."
